Walker Corporation and partner Major Projects Victoria are coming into the final stages of Main Drive Kew, a 27 hectare residential project on the historical Kew Cottages Site. The development is made up of 360 high quality, luxury, sustainable homes and apartments as well as a number of large open spaces nestled among Melbourne’s best schools less than 10km from the Melbourne CBD. This project won “Victoria’s Best Overall Development” at the Urban Development Institute of Australia 2008 Award and has become Australia’s most successful residential development in recent years.
Canny Projects was contracted to build 76 large family homes as part of stages 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the Main Drive Kew development, pre-designed by Walker Corporation. Canny worked on the project from March 2012 to June 2014 with a total project value of $75 million.
The average size of the dwellings were 365m² double storey, split level homes that included 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms with the time taken to construct each home averaging on 180 days. Stage 7 on Monterey Close (at the top of the hill) was made up of larger homes at around 460m2 over three levels with internal lifts, large format balconies and multiple living zones. These homes took 200 days on average to complete including all soft and hard landscaping works.
