There’s nothing better to warm you up on a cold wintry night than a drop of beautiful red wine. But imagine sipping it from your very own wine cellar!
Not purely for the connoisseur, wine cellars or wine tasting rooms have become an increasingly popular addition to the custom houses our designers from Canny Architecture. Our clients love the theater of being able to take their guests to their cellar or wine room to choose a bottle of wine and they work well in unused spaces like basements and under the stairs.
They are also functionally useful, particularly when aging expensive wines to maintain a consistent temperature and humidity which, without this consistency, your wine may spoil. When you consider that the temperature in Melbourne can vary from around 10-12 degrees within one day alone, your kitchen or living room isn’t the best place to keep your wine for extended periods of time.
In regards to design, timber is the preferred choice when building the storage as it thrives in these conditions with built-in anti-bacterial qualities plus it looks absolutely stunning. However you can design it as opulent or simple as you like, as it’s the spectacle of a room filled with bottles of wine that evokes a sense of prestige to your luxury home design.
